Young Person's Service

Young people can often feel completely alone with their fears and concerns and think that no-one understands their feelings or that nobody will be able to help them.

At Footprints we recognise that teenagers and adolescents experience emotional difficulties for a number of reasons. It may be due to a change in their circumstances, such as divorce or separation, loss of a loved one, bullying, lack of confidence or just general confusion in their life. Our aim is to enable them to provide a safe and confidential place to explore their thoughts and feelings in a non-judgemental environment, safe in the thought that what they say will be completely confidential.

Furthermore, we strongly believe that providing support to young people during the crisis points in their lives will have a positive impact on their mental well-being in future years and will help avoid the possibility of them experiencing further emotional conflict in later years.

Young people come to counselling for a wide range of reasons, including:-

  • Feelings of worthlessness or guilt
  • Exam stress
  • Anxiety and feelings of worry
  • Self Harm
  • Anger
  • Concerns about a friend or a parent
  • Relationships
  • Bullying
  • Lack of confidence
  • General loss of interest
  • Behavioural problems at home or at school
  • Stresses of caring for a parent

We are all human and share the same feelings and emotions at different times in our lives.
